Drug Track and Trace System (RSD) – MiDTTS

Category:

MIST is a leading partner of the MiDTTS (MIST Drug Track and Trace System) in Saudi Arabia. The MiDTTS system is an innovative electronic system initiated by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority to ensure drug safety by tracking all drugs in the supply chain from manufacturing until it reaches the consumer. MIST is proud to be part of this initiative, which is implemented through the utilization of cutting-edge technologies and is part of the kingdom’s Vision 2030.

In addition to tracking individual units of drugs, the RSD system also has aggregation requirements. Since October 2019, aggregation of individual packages has been mandatory in Saudi Arabia. An 18-digit Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC) must be applied at the carton and pallet level. Each whereabouts of an aggregated drug unit will be marked via the GLN.

Pharmaceutical companies that want to implement the RSD system need to follow the guidelines set by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA). The RSD system requires a unique, randomly generated serial number on each box of drugs, making it very difficult to counterfeit1. By tracking the number of products in the supply chain and on the market, the RSD system enables the SFDA to monitor the pattern of in-demand medication and assess if there is likely to be a shortage of any product1. Pharmaceutical companies need to ensure that their products are properly labeled and tracked in order to comply with the RSD system requirements.

MIST is committed to providing its customers with the highest quality products and services.
